003: Hannibal 1x07 "Sorbet" - The Most Insane Crackfic Crossover

SPOILERS UP TO (and including) HANNIBAL 1x07 (as well as Red Dragon/Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal)

In this episode:
  • We have a Tumblr! Follow, reblog, and ask us things!
  • Discussion of Hannibal 1x07 "Sorbet," the introduction of Gillian Anderson's character Dr. Bedelia Du Marier, dream logic, and Hannibal's relationships with other people
  • We recorded this a little later at night than usual, so we get a little...rambly
  • NBC Hannibal Tumblr
  • Blood Wedding, a 1933 Spanish play that, in the performance Fio and I saw, had very dreamlike qualities
  • Fan challenge: Write/draw the Insane Crackfic Crossover! (#insane hannibal crackfic crossover) Characters include Hannibal, Will, Morpheus, Dana Scully, Zoe Washburne, the Doctor, and Jareth the Goblin King. Bonus points for Eddie Izzard.
  • Prizes? Um...our undying admiration?
  • We actually haven't agreed on making this a fan challenge. Fio, don't be mad. PLEASE.
ADDENDUM:
  • I completely butchered the rattling off of all the ways to communicate with us at the end of the episode. If you're reading this on the blog, you know that the ways to contact us are in the sidebar. If not, go to amatteroftastepodcast.blogspot.com and click on whatever way through which you want to contact us.
  • There's a section of this podcast that I actually cut, mostly because it was a story that I rambled through and didn't really do justice. I'll leave a link here and hopefully we'll discuss it in a later episode, but in short: Watercolor painter Michael Osterweil has a series of paintings called "The Monkey World" which can be found here. At the top of the page is a short paragraph describing the driving perspective behind the series. To me, the way he sees the general human populace in this series is similar to the way Hannibal views the general human populace (albeit without cannibalistic results). Again, we plan on digging deeper into this in a later episode, but since it relates directly to our discussion of the way Hannibal views the opera singer in this episode compared to how he views humans generally, we wanted to make sure we referenced it here.
